Vendor Management — The Good, Bad and Ugly

imageFew colleges have had the courage to stop using aggregators and most are still chasing the cost per inquiry model.  We've seen a few brave schools turn their backs and stop purchasing inquiries.  In a future newsletter we'll focus on their results.

Meanwhile, this article is for the groups that still buy Internet inquiries.  Here are four quick tips:

Tip one:  Start measuring contact rate. Most vendors won’t allow you to invalidate an inquiry if you never talk to them.

Tip two:  This goes without saying, but once you measure contact rates, compare contact rates by vendor and take action as needed.

Tip three: Insist on no "call center inquires."  Sure, you'll pay more for the inquiry — but it will convert at higher rates.

Tip four: Stipulate that your inquiries must be exclusive.  Stop buying the inquiries that are sold to three or MORE other schools.

Finally, if you aren't sure where to start with any of this, just call Vince at 312-262-7400.  We're happy to help you navigate the process. Our goal is to help you get fewer, MORE QUALIFIED inquires that convert at higher rates.
