Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project

What the Fujisawa Beach Cleaning is About

imageThe Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project focuses on cleaning beaches in the Shonan area and gathering data on marine debris. It is a tangible community activity that brings foreigners and locals together to do something good and to get to know each other better.  Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, the Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project gathers volunteers for a beach cleaning day of service. The Spring Campaign is a special way to commemorate Earth Day. The Fall Campaign is part of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup Initiative.

Is there any insurance for volunteers?

There is no insurance for volunteers.

When is the closing date for volunteers from corporate sponsors?

Priority registration for sponsors (groups of staff and their families) opens one month before FBCP day and closes one week before FBCP day. However as soon as you are able to do so, please send a list of the volunteers, their T-shirt sizes and the names of  group leaders or clean up captains for your group.

Is there any participating fee? If so, how much would it be?

There is no participation fee. There is only corporate sponsorship-- in kind and/or cash, the primary source of funding for the Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project. The secondary source is the sale of lucky draw tickets on clean up day. It would be great if volunteers buy some tickets on the day. The grand prize for the 2010 Fall Cleanup Campaign was a pair of return tickets for Tokyo-London (valued at 310,000 yen) donated by Virgin Atlantic Japan.

One of our volunteers can only participate from 10:30~12:30.Is that alright?

Yes, that's fine. We'll guide them to the place that they need to be whenever they arrive.

What are the T-shirt sizes?

The sizes are from XS to XXXL.  They are Japan sizes. Some T-shirts for kids and babies are available too, thanks to the support of Petit Bateau Japan.
