Taking
advantage of social media has become increasingly important for
PR professionals. Sites like Facebook, Digg and Twitter—along
with a presence on appropriate blogs—can spread your news across
the web, transitioning your press release from B-to-B to B-to-B-to-C. Social
media sites create digital relationships that can be both personally
and professionally beneficial.
To make our New Media Releases even more web-friendly and
viral, we have added several new features:
Social Media Bookmarks
Social Media Bookmarks enable recipients to bookmark and share
your release on over 30 social media sites including Facebook,
Delicious, Technorati, Digg and more. See our bookmark on the
right. Confused about what all those sites do? Feel free to
download our Social
Media Cheat Sheet for easy reference.
Sphere
When journalists click on the Sphere icon, they are connected
to contextually relevant content from blog posts, media articles,
video, photos and more. Here's an example of
a New Media Release that used Sphere. You can see how adding
this feature to your New Media Release will help journalists
and bloggers track down information.
Video Embed Codes
The demand for web content continues to increase and video is
an excellent way to provide it. We now provide embed codes on
any video we distribute to make it easier for journalists and
bloggers to grab your video and drop it onto their site or blog. See
an example here.
Blog components
If you and your client are brave and comfortable with the blogosphere,
blog components can also be added to your NMR. We’ll
create a single entry blog related to your release and direct
journalists/bloggers to the site from your NMR sidebar. Or,
simply add a link to your own blog and invite participation. This
is a great way to interact in a transparent forum with journalists
and, with the proper story, could enjoy a vibrant on-line life.
If you have ideas about how social media can enhance your next
press release let’s
chat about it.
