Joint Commission Resources Achieves Accreditation with Commendation from ACCME

JCR Receives Accreditation with Commendation
for Continuing Medical Education

(Oak Brook, Ill.—August 5, 2013) Joint Commission Resources (JCR), a not-for-profit affiliate of The Joint Commission, announced that it has received Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) for six years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians. Accreditation with Commendation is the highest level of recognition awarded by the ACCME and only given to education providers that demonstrate compliance with all of the ACCME’s accreditation policies and 22 Criteria.

“We worked hard to make sure we consistently meet all of the ACCME’s accreditation requirements,” said Leslie LaBelle, R.N., M.S.N., M.B.A., CPHQ, associate director for Enterprise Continuing Education at Joint Commission Resources. “JCR is very proud to have received Accreditation with Commendation.”

The ACCME employed a rigorous, multilevel process to evaluate JCR’s continuing medical education accreditation compliance. Of the approximately 700 organizations that have achieved accreditation from the ACCME, only 22 percent achieved Accreditation with Commendation. This accreditation validates the quality of JCR’s work to help health care organizations prosper and improve their quality and patient safety by providing important continuing education for inter-professional health care providers.

“The ACCME’s decision confirms our ongoing commitment to educating physicians and other health care providers with effective practice-based continuing medical education to improve the quality and safety of U.S. health care,” said Paula Wilson, president and chief executive officer at Joint Commission Resources.

The ACCME evaluates institutions' continuing medical education programs according to high accreditation standards adopted by all seven of the ACCME’s member organizations. These member organizations are the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Hospital Association, American Medical Association, Association for Hospital Medical Education, Association of American Medical Colleges, Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and Federation of State Medical Boards of the US, Inc.

JCR is dedicated to helping hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, laboratories, home care agencies and other health care organizations prosper by providing quality continuing education to health care providers in their pursuit of life-long learning activities, continued competence and professional development.
