Alexandria, VA. (November 5, 2010)— Byron V. Garrett has resigned as CEO of the National PTA to pursue other opportunities. National PTA thanks Garrett for his contributions and service to the association’s mission and millions of members and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
The National PTA Board of Directors named Mishaela Duran (National PTA’s current Director of Government Affairs) as Interim Executive Director, effective immediately. Duran has over a decade of experience in child policy issues. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a Master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She will work with the board of directors to lead National PTA’s continued work in taking action for all children and families. She will continue working at National PTA headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
